| "OUTSTANDING STAY: My husband and I plus 6 of our good friends just stayed at the Goldern Bear cabin #25. Every year we travel to Big Bear Lake for the Big Bear Bash which is run by Corvettes West. We have stayed at the Golden Bear for a number of years and we have NEVER been disappointed. The owners go out of there way to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin was clean and was ready two hours before check in time. We are all looking forward to staying at the Goldern Bear next year: same cabin already booked. | Review: "This past weekend was our first visit to Golden Bear Cottages. It was perfect for our family of 5.. We were upgraded to a large comfortable cabin without even asking... The 'Shaggy Bear' cabin was beautiful, clean and well stocked with clean towels and kitchen utensils. The owner is very sweet and gracious.. We can not wait to return... My boys (15, 13 and 5) are already asking when can go back and we just came back home yesterday! Looking forward to our next trip to Big Bear and the Golden Bear Cottages. "Dear owners of Golden Bear Cottages resort, I just wanted to thank you again for this great week-end we spent in your adorable cabin the 'Honey Pot'. All of us just loved it ! My husband had a great surprise for his birthday and he just wants to come back again and again so you should see us some times during the year ! I also forgot to tell you when we left that we actually left a brand new vanilla ice cream in the freezer if anyone wanted to take it (I hate wasting food) I hope your maid found it and took it. Golden Bear Cottages is a More Affordable Option
| "We have always done private rentals in Big Bear before, but we found Golden Bear to be a more affordable option for the Christmas period so went with it, and now believe we will return to Golden bear rather than do private rentals in the future. Our cabin was a studio with a bath jacuzzi, Cabin #18, Grizzleys Den. The kitchen had a cooker, microwave and fridge freezer and we successfully cooked our Christmas dinner and did self catering for the 5 nights we were up there. The kitchen area also had a dining table and chairs and conveniently opened out to seat 4. The bed was a little soft, but completely fine and the cabin was nice a cozy. When we arrived it was 17 fahrenheit, but the wall heater was so effective we were soon toasty at over 70 degrees. On our last night there our friends came up to join us as the cabin had a sofa bed; it was great for the time that we were there very economical. The jacuzzi bath is a nice touch too, and great for the evenings when you've been on the slopes. It was great to be in such a great family environment for Christmas. Lots of snow and It had the right balance of privacy and community. We also had great fun on the grounds of Golden Bear. There is a play area which is great in the snow, but I can also see how good Golden Bear would be in the summer with its pool and hot tub. The owners and housekeeping staff were helpful and lovely. When we asked for extra blankets for our friends it was no trouble, and we felt very welcomed. The internet was a great advantage too as it meant we could video chat with our families back home on Christmas day. It was reliable and effective. "If you don't have a fabulous time here you're with the wrong person\people.' A review of Golden Bear Cottages Resort. Nov 26, 2009. The establishment and the friendly owners make every effort to provide a great stay. These cabins include a fully stocked kitchen with frig, stove/oven, microwave, toaster and all utensils. The cabins are clean and have great individual mountain decor. For your comfort a thermostat controlled heater and fireplace are included along with TV, VHS and DVD player with rentals, a gift shop and firewood available at the office. The remodeled bathroom in our cabins included oversized tub with jacuzzi jets. We found all of this in the studio unit we rented for one night. Then we came back again a month later and rented another cabin... Everything was just as good the second time!" | The Artel family

| "Big Bear Christian retreat with lake cabins for rent. Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to the Golden Bear. Same clean cottage. Same great family owners and staff. Same cabin which is only a block from the lake. It's nice to have a comfortable relaxing place to go for a short vacation. After our second trip, we are sold. The family and I took a drive up one Sat. am and loved it! We happened to go off some reviews and I had my husband find this place. It was so cute and the owners were so sweet and helpful! We ended up spending the night up there in the Bear Hug cabin and now I'm getting ready to book a longer vacation for the spring ! Great Times at Golden Bear Cottages

"Great Times at the Golden Bear Cottages' Review of Golden Bear Cottages Resort by the Vasquez family. I had wanted to take my mom and dad to Golden Bear Cottages, located in beautiful Big Bear Lake, for a long time. I had heard very positive things about this resort for a long time. Since so many of my family members wanted to go along as well, we decided to rent the biggest cottage at the resort. That way we could have family coming and going all week and would have room for everybody. We live in nearby Southern California cities so this getaway is perfect for us. It is just an hour from home, yet it is exactly like being in an entirely different world! The weather was perfect, in the low to mid seventies, while the weather at home was in the high nineties. The evenings were clear and crisp - the first time we had worn light jackets in months! Our cabin was perfect for our family. We had plenty of room in the huge kitchen for everybody who wanted to cook in our family 'chicken cook off' to join in! There was a huge dining room that seats 22 plus a great game room with poker tables, a pool table, and a foosball table. Our three level cottage was comfortable for all who either came to visit or for everyone who stayed for the week. Many of our family members spent much of the week at the beautiful Golden Bear pool and outdoor spa. The setting in the centuries old pine trees is breathtaking! The kids played ping-pong, basketball, volleyball, and other sports at the resort. There was even a great playground for the small kids. Golden Bear has a gift shop, movie rentals, a huge selection of board games, card games, and karaoke plus a library of new hardback books for those who may forget to bring something to read. We had never seen so many great amenities at a vacation destination. Our entire experience at Golden Bear Cottages was just wonderful! We will definitely make this an annual event for our family, one that we will all look forward to. The staff bent over backwards to make sure all of our needs were met. The housekeeping staff and the front office staff made us feel at home, providing great service with smiles and even hugs! I highly recommend Golden Bear Cottages to anyone who wants a wonderful get-a-way for their family and friends. We'll be back! Signed, 'luvtotravelDV'

These charming cottages are decorated to capture the essence of the mountain area. The serene alpine setting welcomes you to take a break from the everyday city life while the owners welcome you as friends not as customers. I contacted Golden Bear Cottages in behalf of my husband and his strike team who were fighting the Butler 2 fire. His team, consisting of 22 firefighters with 5 engines was in need of a good nights sleep after sleeping in parking lots for three nights. The folks ar Golden Bear Cottages could not have been more helpful. They set aside enough cottages to meet the firefighter's needs and in addition offered them rates that were affordable. Great service! Thanks.

Friends meet at Golden Bear Cottages every year. This year our large group had 11 cabins. We BBQ and party while catching up on the past year in each of our lives. This resort has the right size cabin for each size family. Every year the group grows because the members have such a good time. The cottages are always clean and the staff sees to our every need. THANKS AGAIN!!!

My family stayed at the Golden Bear Cottages this past weekend in one of their beautiful jacuzzi cottages. We absolutely had the best time we have ever had on a weekend get-away! The entire staff was courteous and very caring. The cottage was very tastefully decorated, clean, and so very comfortable. We were so warm and cozy after our snow play on Golden Bear's property as we sat by the roaring fire. An added benefit was the fantastic 3 person jacuzzi in the cottage. What a way to relax! Each of my children got a Golden Bear souvenir in the gift shop. The most wonderful place we have ever visited! The service was superb and the cottages were absolutely perfect. Each and every cottage is a blend of comfort and mountain decor. My family and a group of our friends stayed in several of the cottages, including the ultra-luxurious Golden Bear Manor and the beautiful Bearberry Manor during the Christmas holidays. We were treated like Kings and Queens by the front office staff and the very courteous maintenance and housekeeping staffs. All of our requests were taken care of promptly and with a smile. Golden Bear Cottages are AAA approved and offers every imaginable amenity for families and groups. Pets are allowed: Golden Bear Cottages Pet Policy Pets are allowed in designated Pet Friendly cottages ONLY. The following rules are provided in advance for a pet's stay: 1. The pet(s) is to be on leash at all times when outside cottage. 2. The pet(s) will be in a crate or a carrier if left unattended in cottage. 3. Golden Bear Cottages housekeepers will not enter a cottage to do 'Maid Service' if pet(s) are not in a crate or a carrier. 4. Clean up of pet grounds after pet is always required. No pets in pool area. 5. You are responsible for damages and/or extra cleaning caused by your pet. 6. A $100 cash deposit may be required, or we may charge your credit card for damages. 7. Each pet fee is $10 per day. NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE. 8. The pet(s) are not allowed on furniture. We have pet quilts and crates you may check out in the office for a nominal rental fee as available.

The cabin was clean and decorated in quaint, country style charm. It had a fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen, and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.
We found plenty to do, including the teenagers. We relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the playground with volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, and tether ball. We watched movies on the VCR in our room at night, as well as by the pool on Saturday night. The office has a nice gift shop, and a large library of movies for rent, and games for the kids. We also enjoyed the local news in the room, which highlighted local attractions and special events in the area. We watched the fireworks show over the lake, and visited the local zoo for the first time. Both were impressive!
The service was excellent, including management, maintenance, and housekeeping. Our room was stocked daily with whatever was needed, and maintenance saved the day by supplying us with an extension cord to make our traditional homemade ice cream on 4th of July. Hats off to Golden Bear Cottages for providing such a charming, relaxing escape in the gorgeous mountain atmosphere. We'll be back! 12/12 found this review helpful | we absolutly loved this place-

Big Bear Lake: Northwoods Resort: "A great family hotel" Dec 31, 2006 tlc2 , thousand oaks Ca After much research we decided to stay at the Northwoods resort for our after christmas ski trip with our blended family, 4 adults, 2 teens and one 4 year old. We had a large suite with an attached bedroom and additional room. The accomidations were great and the location perfect, starbucks only a 4 minute walk. We hardly got in our cars at all. The staff was very nice. I would return to the hotel anytime.

My experience with this property took place in: July, 2007 Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely! My ratings for this hotel are:  Value Rooms Location  Cleanliness Check in / front desk Service Business service | We stayed at the Northwoods Resort from July 25 to July 29, 2007. We were there for our family reunion. The majority of the family did not arrive until 7/27 but in the mean time we REALLY enjoyed the hotel! The hotel staff was so wonderful!. Once the rest of the family did arrive, everyone (all 118 family members) had nothing but great things to say about this place. Even with all of the family we had staying there, at night it was very quiet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful place in the mountains! The Stillwells restaurant is very good too!

 - What a blessing it was to find this place in Big Bear Lake! With our hectic schedule in the city, we needed a place to relax and spend quality time together. Golden Bear is the place! It is close to home (only about an hour), but it is like a different world. The people at the resort are so friendly. They even ask if they can do special things for you. Over the years, this property has turned into a full resort. The DiCarlo's and Duran's, who own Golden Bear Cottages just keeping adding great things to do at the resort. My experience with this property took place in: July, 2007 Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely! My ratings for this hotel are: Value Rooms Location Cleanliness Check in / front desk Service | We just returned from a great little getaway weekend at the Golden Bear Cottages. This was our third time staying at this great mountain family resort. The rooms are all furnished and decorated to give the guest a nice, warm, cozy feeling. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in before the posted check in time. We have stayed previously in the Winter, but the Summer weather allowed us to take advantage of the redwood patio table and umbrella that was just outside of our cabin. The cabins are in a convenient location: close to town, restaurants, and recreational activities. Each cabin has a barbeque with briquettes available from the management. Activities available on the property consisted of horseshoes, basketball, ping pong, basketball, volleyball, swimming, and a jacuzzi. The rooms are equiped with a VCR. If you did not bring any tapes with you, there is a large library of movies available for rent in the office. 09/21/2007 We stayed with a large group that booked the entire resort property(28 cabins). We came mostly from Arizona. The resort cabins at Golden Bear Cottages were beautiful. Rustic cabins in the cool mountains at 7000 feet elevation. The cabins and grounds were very clean and well kept. The maids and landscaping staff were always trying to do something special. The office staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodate all of our needs. This was a welcome surprise, as our group has some pretty picky people. But lhey all left happy... wanting to know how to sign up for next year's event at Golden Bear Cottages in Big Bear. THANK YOU to Don, Karen, Lisa, Len and all the staff. A wonderful mountain get away. We really enjoyed the 'family movie nights' on the big screen TV at the pool. My family travels to Golden Bear Cottages once or twice a year and we love it! The Owners are always improving the resort....I was amazed to see that they are now offering massages in their own private salon! Incredible! Golden Bear is definitely the best overall vacation spot I've ever stayed at! We can't wait to go back!

Six acres of beautifully decorated cabins in a relaxing forest setting. Each cabin has it's own space, private parking and patio areas. The room was very large and had a nice seating area. This area opened onto a patio which had a table where you could sit outside. It was close to the pool and had a beautiful pond nearby. The room was very clean. There also was a great lobby to the resort with a comfortable area to sit by the fireplace. I loved being so close to the town that we could walk to all the shops.

The Northwoods Resort hotel has a true rustic feel without comprimising in cleanliness, service or comfort. We had a fireplace in our room, jaccuzi tub, kitchenette, King bed, beautiful views - all for about $250 a night. Compared to most of the other hotel offerings around Big Bear, this is a cut above.
